Miley Cyrus Swings Around Naked & Cries In New “Wrecking Ball” Video

After her controversial twerk-tastick performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards last month, Miley Cyrus is getting back into the “swing” of things and focusing on her music career.

The 20-year-old global superstar debuted the video for her new single, “Wrecking Ball,” yesterday and the visuals exhibit the singer getting more vulnerable than ever before. In the video, directed by Terry Richardson and shot in Los Angeles, Cyrus breaks free of her wardrobe and breaks down the walls that have been confining her as she sings, “Don’t you ever say I just walked away/I will always want you.” Later, possibly addressing rumors of a break-up with on-again, off-again fiancee Liam Hemsworth, she cries, “I can’t live a lie, running for my life/I will always want you.”

“Wrecking Ball” is the second single from Miley’s forthcoming studio album Bangerz, which will include 13 new tracks. The album’s first single, “We Can’t Stop,” was released on June 3 and immediately shot to No. 1 on iTunes in the U.S. and 23 other countries. The Bangerz delux edition will include three bonus tracks and will feature collaborations with renowned producers and songwriters Mike WiLL Made It, Pharrell, Future, and will.i.am.

“I feel like I can really be myself,” Cyrus told Billboard.com about the creative evolution she experienced recording Bangerz. “I really have more of a connection of who I am, and I feel like I can maybe express that more in my music now. It really just turned out to be perfect and exactly what I wanted, and exactly what I wanted my first sound to be. I think it’s an important message for me to tell my fans—they haven’t stopped waiting, so it’s great.”

Watch the brand new video for “Wrecking Ball” below. Bangerz debuts on October 8.
