Eminem, GameStop And Call Of Duty Collaborate For The Marshall Mathers LP 2 Bonus Edition

Perhaps taking a note from Jay Z with his Magna Carta Holy Grail collaboration with Samsung, Eminem has explored going the digital route with his upcoming The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

Back in August, Em debuted a new song in the trailer of the upcoming installment of the Call of Duty series. “Survival” was featured in Call of Duty: Ghosts and opened the door for the next stage of the collaboration. Now involving video game retailer GameStop, those who purchase Call of Duty: Ghosts from the store will receive a code that will allow them to download a bonus edition of Eminem’s new album. Both are to be released on November 5th, so it makes perfect sense for one of the biggest video game franchises to tag team with one of the biggest hip hop artists in the world.

“The energy and intensity of ‘Survival’ really matches ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’,” Eminem said in a press release, as per Billboard. “I’m excited to continue to be a part of the franchise.”

How this will factor into his actual sales has yet to be seen. But considering how Jay Z was able to use the digital sales to push his album to platinum before the street date, we’re sure that this will somehow assist in bolstering Eminem’s sales.

Could this be a new frontier of music marketing?
