Chloe Grace Moretz will kick-ass if anyone tries to mess with her family. The 16-year-actress covers the October 2013 issue of Seventeen and opens up about the adversity some of her family members faced because of their homosexuality.

“I have two gay brothers and two straight brothers, and my gay brothers were treated horrifically until they grew up and understood how to deal with it,” she recalls. “I will delete you and I will block you, and you will not be a part of my life if you ever say anything bad about my brothers.”

Moretz credits her family with keeping her grounded in Hollywood despite her box office success. “Never choose your friends over your family or a boyfriend or girlfriend over the family,” she says. “My mom has always taught us that blood is thicker than water. No one will ever understand the dynamic of your family. Ever. We are the closest family ever and we are the most insane family ever. It may look weird to others, but to us, it’s life.”

That bond is so strong, the actress has an interesting Halloween costume in mind for her family this year to show their unity. “I want my whole family—including my brothers—to be Britney Spears throughout the ages,” she says. “They’d never all do it with me, only one of my brothers would, but I would want to be ‘Oops I Did It Again’ Britney in the red jumpsuit.”

When she isn’t hanging with her brothers, Chloe is sure to surround herself with people that will also make her want to be a better person. “What my friends and I have in common is that we all strive to do something,” she revealed. “They want to go to good colleges, be writers, publicists, fashion designers—whatever it is they want to do, they know what they want and they go for it.”

The October issue of Seventeen hits newsstands on September 17. Besides Kick-Ass 2, Chloe stars in the remake of Carrie, which arrives in theaters on October 18. Check out the trailer for it below. Do you think Chloe is a good Carrie?
