Do You Like The Reebok Question-Inspired Q96 Sneaker?

In recent years, Reebok has struggled to get people—and, to be more specific, basketball players—to buy their sneakers. Why? Well, for one, they haven’t had that many new basketball sneakers to choose from. And the sneakers that have been made available haven’t been all that appealing. It’s one of the reasons Reebok decided to scrap their plans to make more signature sneakers with John Wall and allowed him to leave for adidas. But they’re not going to give up on basketball sneakers altogether. They’re just going to take a new approach to creating basketball sneakers, one that they hope will get a better reaction from ballers and lead to better sales.

So what is this revolutionary new approach? Actually, it’s a pretty solid idea. Instead of creating new basketball sneakers, Reebok is planning on recreating older basketball sneakers and putting a modern twist on them. And the new Reebok Q96 is an excellent example of this. As you can see in the photo above, the Q96 is heavily inspired by the Reebok Question that Allen Iverson used to wear and that Reebok re-released recently. In fact, from a distance, you would probably think that the Q96 is the Question. But they’ve updated the Question with the Q96 by making it lighter and incorporating Reebok’s patented DMX foam cushioning inside of it in order to make it modern. Essentially, they’ve taken a basketball sneaker that they know people love already and given it a slight makeover.

Smart? Yeah, we would say so. People love the look of the Questions, so why not use them for inspiration and create a new basketball sneaker based on them? It makes perfect sense to us. What do you think about what Reebok is doing, though? Is it a good idea for them to look to the past to create sneakers for the present? Or do you think that they should be a little bit more creative when coming up with new sneaker designs? Either way, the Q96 is going to drop this fall. And we can’t wait to try on a pair.
