Kelly Rowland Shows Off Her “X Factor” On Shape: “My Behind Is Higher & Tighter!”
Kelly Rowland definitely has the “X-Factor”! The singer and newest judge on the FOX singing competition series showed off her taunt tummy on the October 2013 cover of Shape and dished on the secrets to keeping her killer shape in top form.
“I work out five or six times a week. I feel better, look better, sleep better,” she says. “As I’m getting older, the Rowland family trait of having bigger bottoms is taking its toll on my hips and butt. The other day, [my trainer] had me doing squats that were so hard I wanted to kill her. But my behind is getting higher and tighter. Exercise really does change your body.”
But exercise alone isn’t the only way the “Dirty Laundry” singer stays fit. Instead, Kelly keeps her lips sealed and makes smarter choices when it comes to her diet. “I love food so much, all I have to do is look at it and I gain 5 pounds,” she told the magazine. “I’ve come up with these variations on some of my favorites that give me the flavor I’m craving in a healthier way. When I want a steak, I grill some portobello mushrooms and put a little goat cheese on them. When I make fish tacos, rather than flour tortillas, I use butter lettuce leaves. And I’ve learned to satisfy my sweet tooth by replacing Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups with half a tablespoon of almond butter on half a banana.”
For the 32-year-old international superstar, the results are all that matters. “I never like to say diet,” Kelly said in a recent interview with TheYBF.com. “I like to say eating clean…For me, it’s green vegetables or fish. I don’t feel like I’m heavy or weighed down or lethargic when I eat. Food should give you energy. All I need is a good workout and that’s it. I take of myself, take care of my skin, and I watch what I’m eating. I want to look good naked…Everybody wants to look good naked. That’s the goal.”
