Twerk ambassador Miley Cyrus cleans up her act on the October 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Shot by Terry Richardson, the 20-year-old singer glows in a classic little black dress by Burberry Prorsum and reveals that her style game is untouchable by the masses.

“I feel like every girl is trying to have a beauty shot and prove that they’re ‘fashion,’” Miley scoffed. “But I can be in white leggings and a white sports bra and I’m on a whole other level of shit that those girls don’t even get yet because they don’t know how to do it.”

Miley shocked the world when she chopped off her brunette locks and went blonde last August, and the former Hannah Montana actress says the evolution is all a part of her growing up. “ “It changed everyone else’s life more than it changed mine. I took off and I just wanted to party,” the “We Can’t Stop” singer says of the hit Disney television series ending. “I worked so hard, and I wanted to buy a house and just chill. I was an adult when I was supposed to be a kid. So now I’m an adult and I’m acting like a kid. I can’t believe I’m allowed to be here alone.”

Miley advises other Hollywood teens, like Justin Bieber, to follow in her footsteps and also embrace their childlike ways. “I’m not saying you need to take a break because you’re crazy,” she explains. “I’m saying you need to take a break so you can be crazy, and people aren’t going to judge you. You’re going to do dumb stuff from here on out. But do it in your own time. Do it safely. You can afford to protect yourself and still have fun.”

And while Miley is reliving her childhood for the world to see, the actress says she won’t let fame go to her head.”My parents always had money, and I’ve always been around this industry, so I didn’t have my mind blown or become obsessed with being famous,” she says. “When I was growing up, I didn’t even notice that I started making all this money. There’s something about new money that makes people change. But I never did not have [money]. So when I got it, I didn’t become obsessed with having it.”

With a new look and a new hip-hop tinged album, Bangerz, set to hit the streets on October 8, Miley is definitely exerting her independence. “We’re in a world of selfies,” she confessed. “I told my label, ‘This is the first time I’m showing what I’m bringing to the table as an artist. If this goes wrong, you never have to trust me again. I’ll be your little puppet. But if I’m right then you know I’m on to something.’”

Pick up Miley’s October 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar when the magazine hits newsstands on September 24 and read the entire interview here. Do you think Miley’s fashion sense is on a whole other level?
