Late last month, after weeks of anticipation, adidas finally released their adidas Mutombo signature sneaker to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the shoe. And it was a huge hit amongst sneakerheads. Although the sneaker wasn’t the most popular sneaker on the block back when it hit stores in 1993, the popularity of high-top sneakers these days made the Mutombo sneaker a must-have this summer. And adidas just announced that they’e not done releasing Mutombos now that they’ve released the original sneaker.

That’s right. In the coming weeks, we will also get to get our hands on another version of the classic Mutombo sneaker. We’ve included official images of that sneaker here. It’s going to be available in a “Black/Purple” colorway that features an all-black upper, a black outer sole, and hits of purple on the side panels of the sneaker as well as on the tongue, the inner lining, and the toe box stitch. It also features some smaller hits of white as well as red on the tongue just to tie the whole look together. And if you like the original Mutombo sneaker, we’re willing to bet that you’re going to like this one, too.

You won’t have to wait all that long to get a pair of the Mutombo “Black/Purple” sneakers, either. Although it felt like it took forever for adidas to release the original Mutombo sneakers, the “Black/Purple” ones will hit stores on October 5 and will retail for $105. What do you think about what adidas did to the Mutombos this time around? Do you like them more or less than the original Mutombos? And are you planning on picking up a pair when they hit adidas retailers on October 5? Let us know in the comments section below right after you check out some more photos of the “Black/Purple” sneaker.
