The legendary “Flu Game” is one of the most impressive things that Michael Jordan has on his resume. Back in 1997 during Game 5 of the NBA Finals, MJ played against the Utah Jazz and put up 38 points to lead Chicago to a victory despite the fact that he was suffering from flu-like symptoms. He could barely get out of bed in the hours leading up to the game. And yet, he put together one of the finest performance in NBA Playoffs history. He proved that he really was one of the best NBA players of all time that night. And now, you can own a piece of history from that game.

After Game 5 ended, MJ gave the Air Jordan 12 sneakers that he wore during the game to a Jazz ball boy. We’re not exactly sure why MJ decided to give the ball boy the sneakers—maybe he kept MJ laced with gallons and gallons of Gatorade during the game?—but regardless of why he did it, the ball boy held onto the sneakers after the game and eventually put them away in a safety deposit box. But now, he’s decided to partner up with Grey Flannel Auctions to sell the sneakers to someone who can display them a little bit better than he can. He’s not sure how much he’s going to be able to get for them. But we’re betting that he stands to make tens of thousands of dollars for the sneakers.

In the photo above, you can see MJ signing the Air Jordans for the Jazz ball boy before handing them over to him. It’s visual evidence of the fact that you will be getting a pair of Air Jordans worn by MJ during the “Flu Game” if you win the auction. So with that in mind, will you be placing a bid on the sneakers? How much do you think they will end up selling for? And do you think the former Jazz ball boy is crazy for getting rid of them?
