Do you own a pair of Under Armour basketball sneakers yet? If not, you’re probably going to be wearing a pair soon. Because as of right now, Under Armour is making huge strides in the world of basketball. They already have several high-profile NBA players signed to Under Armour, and they just got another one to agree to endorse Under Armour, too. So who is it? Well, none other than Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry, who just announced that he is going to be leaving Nike in order to wear Under Armour sneakers from now on.

“After the exciting playoff run we had last year, I carried that momentum to my training and pushed myself at every level this offseason,” Curry said a little while ago through a press release. “I joined the Under Armour family because they share my passion for working hard and taking no shortcuts. From what I’ve seen, they are extremely committed to supporting their athletes on and off the court as well as building the game’s most innovative basketball footwear that will help make my job on the court a little bit easier.”

Curry’s decision to sign with Under Armour is significant for a number of reasons. First, it shows that Under Armour is going to be a major player when it comes to basketball sneakers over the course of the next few years. Under Armour has a great opportunity here. Curry has sustained a number of ankle injuries in recent years and, if they’re able to keep him healthy, Under Armour could do a lot for their brand. Under Armour is also the latest company to steal a player away from Nike. That’s not to say that Nike won’t still play a huge role in the NBA. But it would appear as though the Swoosh is losing its stranglehold on the NBA sneaker market. Or, at the very least, they’re not dominating it like they used to.

What do you think about Curry’s decision to sign with Under Armour? Should he have stuck with Nike, or was Under Armour a better fit for him? Let us know in the comments section below.
