Is Kendrick Lamar Dissing Drake Or Papoose In The BET Cypher?

There has been a perceived cold war of sorts between Kendrick Lamar and Drake over the past few weeks. Starting with Lamar’s verse on Big Sean‘s “Control,” Drake has been asked time and time again about his thoughts on the lyrics that sent social media into a spiral. Although the Canadian hasn’t outright dissed Kendrick, the constant questions finally lured him into a few responses. Nothing too big, aside from it being a friendly competition.

But perhaps Lamar has taken it a step further with his verse on the upcoming BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher:

“Yeah…and nothing’s been the same since they dropped “Control”/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his Pajama Clothes/ Ha-ha jokes on you, high-five…..I’m bulletproof/ Your sh*ts a never penetrate, pin the tail on the donkey boy you been a fake….”

Now, it could be a coincidence that Lamar uses Drake’s album title in the first line. But some believe that this is a shot at Drake considering that he’s a “sensitive” rapper. However, this may be a shot at Papoose, who took a shot at Drake with his “Control” freestyle. Reason being is that Pap tweeted that Kendrick is a joke and spit these bars on his freestyle…

“Far from the king, this is the city of BDP / You’ll never be a real West Coast artist like Eazy-E / You a fucking joke. We laughing at you like he-he-he.”

Yeah, so my vote is that the shots fired were meant for Pap, not Drake.
