How Did A 9-Year-Old Boy Manage To Fly From Minnesota To Las Vegas Without A Plane Ticket?

If you’ve been to an airport anytime within the last decade or so, then you know how many layers of security you have to go through simply to board a plane. From pretty much the minute you walk into an airport to the minute you sit down in your seat on the plane, you’re being poked and prodded and shuffled from one security checkpoint to the next in order to make sure that you are who you say you are and that you’re not trying to sneak anything illegal onto the plane. So with that in mind, how in the world did a 9-year-old boy from Minnesota manage to board a plane and fly to Las Vegas recently without a ticket or an adult by his side?!

That’s the question that a lot of people are asking right now—and it doesn’t sound like anyone is willing to take the blame for it happening. The boy, who took a flight from Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport to Vegas last Thursday, is safe and sound right now. But a spokesman for the airport in Minnesota is blaming Delta and the TSA for the mishap, while Delta is scratching their heads and wondering how the boy managed to get onto one of their planes in the first place.

“At this point, this is a Delta and TSA issue,” the airport spokesman said over the weekend. “This is a rare incident.”

We would certainly hope so. Because obviously, a 9-year-old should not be allowed to do anything alone in an airport, much less catch a flight. So the airport, Delta, and TSA all need to work together to find out how the boy was able to walk right onto a plane on Thursday without a ticket and what they can do to prevent things like this from happening in the future. They also need to make sure that they’re doing everything they can to maintain a high level of security at this airport and other airports around the country. It’s easy to forget what can happen when we let our guard down, since there haven’t been many security issues at airports in the past. But if a 9-year-old is able to sneak onto a plane, who else can do it, too?

Let’s hope that all of the airports out there learn a lesson from this incident. Keeping airports secure is important, regardless of whether we’re talking about a 9-year-old or a 39-year-old. So let’s make sure they’re as secure as they can be.
