Robyn Lawley Becomes The First Plus-Size Model To Appear In GQ Australia

Robyn Lawley is living large. This month, the gorgeous Aussie model has become the first plus-size model to grace the pages of GQ Australia.

“We didn’t feature Robyn because she’s larger than your typical model,” editor Ceri David told Stuff New Zealand. “We featured her because she’s beautiful, and she has a very relaxed, laid-back energy to her, which made her the perfect fit for our Feel Good Issue. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. People just think she’s smoking hot—size doesn’t even come into it.”

Lawley, who is 6’2″ and a size 12, recently debuted her very own plus-sized bathing suit collection and says she embraces her body. “Curves don’t epitomize a woman,” Robyn declares in the November 2013 issue of the men’s magazine. “I find all this stuff a very controlling and effective way of making women obsess over their weight, instead of exploiting their more important attributes, such as intellect, strength, and power. We could be getting angry about unequal pay and unequal opportunities, but we’re too busy being told we’re not thin enough or curvy enough. We’re holding ourselves back. I’ve got big hips and a big body. I’m double, triple the size of other models—and I embrace that, I own it.”
