Is It Time For The Tampa Bay Buccaneers To Fire Greg Schiano?

For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 2013-14 NFL season wasn’t supposed to be this bad. They weren’t supposed to start off the year 0-7. They weren’t supposed to give the Jacksonville Jaguars a run for the “worst team in the NFL” title. Hell, they weren’t even supposed to finish at the bottom of the NFC. They were projected, by some at least, to be a possible playoff contender and a team that could really surprise people with their play. But even though it wasn’t supposed to be this way, the Bucs have been awful so far this season and are probably only going to get worse from here.

So why is Tampa so dreadful this year? Well, there are a bunch of reasons. They started off the year by suffering a loss to the New York Jets as a result of a 15-yard penalty that put the Jets into position to win the game with a field goal. They followed that up by playing great against the New Orleans Saints, only to loss that game at the end to a field goal, too. And then, things got really bad when the Tampa organization found itself at odds with starting quarterback Josh Freeman. It eventually led to them trying to trade Freeman before eventually parting ways with him for good by releasing him. And in addition to all of this, many former and current NFL players have spoken out against Bucs head coach Greg Schiano. They don’t like the way that Schiano handles his business in Tampa and want him fired.

At this point, it seems like Schiano is going to get fired sometime soon. Because the team is 0-7 and because so many people out there are complaining about the poor job that he’s doing and the questionable calls he’s making, he’s likely going to get canned. And that might be what’s best for all parties right now. Because while this season wasn’t supposed to be as bad as it has been, it has gone in that direction, at least in part, because Schiano has failed to keep the team moving in the right direction both through his words and his actions. So it wouldn’t surprise us at all to see him gone sometime soon.

Do you think that Schiano should be fired after last night’s 27-13 Bucs loss to the Carolina Panthers? Or do you think the Bucs may as well keep him on board now that their season is pretty much doomed anyway?
