Jordan Brand Will Not Be Releasing The Air Jordan III ’88 “Black/Cement” Sneakers

Earlier this year, the Jordan Brand re-released their classic Air Jordan III “White/Cement” sneakers to a ton of fanfare. It has been 25 years since the original Air Jordan III “White/Cement” sneaker was released. And in that time, sneakerheads’ love for the shoe has grown exponentially. It is arguably the greatest Air Jordan of all time. So when the “White/Cement” hit store shelves earlier this year, it literally flew off of them within about an hour. Everyone wanted to get their hands on them. And believe us, everyone tried to do anything they could to get them.

Recently, a rumor started circulating about a “Black/Cement” colorway of the Air Jordan III coming soon, too. And predictably, the Internet went nuts over the rumor. People started reserving a place in line for the sneakers and, based off little more than a random photo that popped up, they started speculating over when, where, and how they were going to be able to land a pair. But alas, the rumor was just a rumor, and it sounds like the Jordan Brand will not be releasing a “Black/Cement” Air Jordan III anytime soon. In fact, there’s a good chance that the sneaker might not drop at all. Nice Kicks talked to someone over at Jordan Brand, and they confirmed that the rumor about the sneaker dropping later this year or early next year was not true.

We’re honestly not sure why Jordan Brand wouldn’t drop an Air Jordan III ’88 in a “Black/Cement” colorway. The interest for one is obviously there, and it would make total sense for the Air Jordan III ’88 to be released in that particular colorway. But for now at least, Jordan Brand doesn’t have any plans to release that sneaker. Do you think that that is a mistake on their part? Or do you think that they will reconsider their position on the sneaker sometime in the near future and release it after all? Let us know in the comments section below.
