A Lost Star Wars Blooper Reel Hits The Internet—And The Force Is Hilarious!
The force is strong with this video.
36 years after Star Wars hit theaters in 1977, a gag reel has surfaced courtesy of author J.W. Rinzler. The Lucasfilms scribe behind the books on “the making” of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi gave fans of the iconic film a treat when he debuted the blooper footage this past summer at every nerd’s favorite holiday Comic-Con in San Diego.
The magnificent two minute and thirty-six seconds of gag-reel footage begins with 48 seconds of pure silence (no need to check your audio equipment) but the visuals are enough to keep anyone entertained. Noteworthy moments include rebel soldiers losing their helmets moments before Darth Vader‘s explosive entrance, C-3PO falling over, and Luke Skywalker’s hovercraft breaking down and falling apart.
Once the audio kicks in, things get even more surreal as the actors struggle to remember their lines. After Harrison Ford flubs a line, he breaks down and pretends to eat his headset while Mark Hamill struggles to figure out how to pronounce the word “Supernova” while flying in his X-Wing.
