Target Offering $200 Trade-In For Most iPads
Want to update your iPad, but can’t quite find $479 for the new iPad Air WiFi? Target can help you out. The discount retailer is offering at least $200 in store credit for most iPads- well above the average resale value of most early generation devices.
According to the store’s website, “the iPad must power on and screen must not be scratched” to be eligible for the trade in. The credit must be used towards a new iPad, and it looks like the deal can only be processed at “Target Mobility Stores” that sell mobile devices. The iPads will be “appraised” and will get “at least” $200, but the site doesn’t say how much a pristine device might fetch.
The promotion started on Sunday, and will be in effect only through Saturday (November 9).
Prices for iPads were already slashed when retail giant Wal-Mart dropped $20 off Apple’s suggested list price of $499 for the entry-level tablet. Both Target and Apple itself followed suit.
The move is also seen as an early volley in the increasingly early efforts to get holiday shoppers. Retailer Kmart announced that it will be open on Thanksgiving, moving up the start of Black Friday shopping.
What do you think- will Target’s deal make you more likely to buy a new iPad?
