Kids say the darndest things. Sometimes shocking, often thought-provoking but, for the most part, always adorable. In a new video by The Fine Brothers, Benny and Rafi Fine from the popular “Kids React” YouTube series show 13 children from California, ages 5 to 13, two same-sex proposals and then ask them to react to what the just witnessed.

“The opinions of children about these issues can give incredibly valuable insight into where our society currently stands and where we are headed as people,” the filmmakers wrote in a pre-video statement that appears across the screen in the beginning of the video. “It’s important to discuss these topics openly in hopes of a better tomorrow through dialogue and conversation.”

The kids responses run the gamut with most being positive. “When someone proposes to me, that’s what I want to happen,” observes Elle, 11.

Adds 12-year-old Derek,  “If one person should be able to do something, then everyone else should be able to do it.”

So what do the children think of being gay in general? “The first time I ever heard about it I was like ‘OK, that’s kind of weird’, but people should be together if they like each other a lot,” said Krischelle, 9.

“So, they’re gay. But it’s OK,” 13-year-old Troy says.

But my favorite response comes from 7-year-old Samirah, “How does a guy marry a guy?” she ponders. “You’re hanging out with a guy for the rest of your life, all you’re gonna know is guy things. You go to a fancy restaurant you’re just going to be burping the whole time.”

That may be true, Samirah, but they will look fabulous while doing it. Click play and hear what the kids have to say below. If the children are our future, what do you think this video says about the future of America?
