Her latest single may be called “The Art of Letting Go,” but it seems Mariah Carey is still reliving the past.

The 43-year-old chart-topping pop diva dropped by New York radio station Hot 97 to chat on The Angie Martinez Show recently. With her bestie and manager Jermaine Dupri by her side, Carey sipped champagne and spewed venom when talking about her experience working as a judge and mentor on American Idol.

“Honestly, I hated it,” Carey said of her only season on the Fox singing reality competition. “I thought it was going to be a three-person panel. They gave me a nice dangling monetary moment, and I was just like, ‘Okay. Randy Jackson will be there; I’ve known him forever. He used to play bass for me. Like, this isn’t a big deal. This will be nothing.’ But it wasn’t that. It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan.”

While she didn’t go into detail, it’s not hard to figure out who this darling was talking about as Carey famously feuded with fellow judge Nicki Minaj while filming. But like any pop star, moments later Carey was singing a different tune. “Nah, I’m just playing,” she said giggling. “It didn’t affect me that much. I was disappointed.”

Not surprisingly, Minaj and Carey aren’t returning to American Idol for Season 14 which suits this diva just fine. “I like being in the studio better and going on my own tours,” said Carey, whose new album The Art of Letting Go, debuts in February 2014. “So we’re going back to that.”

Watch Mariah get Carey’d away on The Angie Martinez Show below. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. So what do you think Nicki Minaj will say when she learns Mariah basically called her the devil?
