Barbie Doll Gets A Couture Makeover From Hervé Léger By Max Azria: “Being Plastic Has Its Benefits!”

Barbie Doll is more Haute than ever! The fantastic plastic icon has been given a makeover by high-end designer Hervé Léger by Max Azria.

“Working with Barbie Collector on this exclusive collaboration has been an incredible experience,” said BCBG Max Azria group chief executive Lubov Azria of the collaboration. “The Hervé Léger Barbiedoll is a milestone project that I am excited to share with collectors of both brands.”

The limited-edition Barbie rocks the same infamous Hervé Léger bandage dress seen on many Hollywood it-girls in real life like Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Eva Longoria, Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears, Christina Milian, Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Miranda Kerr, Blake Lively, and Christina Aguilera to name a few. In an exclusive interview, Barbie talked to ELLE about her custom-made new gear.

“I’m wearing a scarlet, classic Hervé Léger by Max Azria bandage dress with the most incredible black gladiator-style sandals and a gold clutch,” Barbie gushed (in a mock interview, of course, because dolls don’t talk). “It was between this dress and another Hervé favorite—a jacquard black-and-white mini dress with great open-toe booties and a black studded clutch. I love these looks—they’re fun, glamorous and a bit edgy. This doll believes in statement pieces to take my look to the next level. For this look, I am combining the harness belt and gladiator sandals to elevate the classic bandage dress that Hervé Léger by Max Azria is known for. I’d wear my Hervé Léger by Max Azria dress for a fun night out with my best dolls or for a romantic date night with Ken!”

Unlike most women, Barbie says she doesn’t have to wear spanx to slither into her Herve. “Being plastic has its benefits, so the Hervé Léger by Max Azria dress fits me perfectly,” she admits.

But the leggy blonde has advice for any woman hoping to step out for a night on the town in a chic Herve dress. “The best accessory is confidence,” she says. “Whatever you are wearing: stand tall, walk proud, and hold your head high. That’s a look you will always pull off beautifully.”
