Julianna Pena Crowned As First Female Winner Of UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter

This season of The Ultimate Fighter was groundbreaking in many ways. Aside from it being the first installment to feature female coaches (Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate), it was also the first season to have both men and women fighters in the same house. Obviously, the men only fought the men and vice versa, but it was interesting to see that the women of the house put on better fights than the men. They truly fought as if their lives depended on it.

It all culminated with Saturday’s TUF finale in Las Vegas where Julianna Pena proved to be much more than a pretty face as she defeated Jessica Rakoczy with one second left in the first round with a vicious display of ground and pound. Pena struggled with being an outcast in the house but made up for it with gutsy performances against fellow #1 pick Shayna Baszler and Sarah Moras. The Team Tate fighter overcame the odds and took home the six-figure UFC contract. Check out the highlights below.
