Nike Released Images Of The Kobe 9 Sneaker This Week—And Twitter Had Very Mixed Reactions To It

Earlier this week, Nike showed off their new Kobe 9 sneaker for the very first time. And the reaction to the sneaker was…ehhhhhhh. We don’t want to say that people hated the sneaker. But much like the Jordan XX8 that was released last year, people also didn’t love it. They were actually pretty confused by it. That’s because the Kobe 9 is not a low-top sneaker like many of the other Kobe sneakers before it. It’s actually an extra, extra, extra high-top. As you can see in the photo above, it’s much different than anything else that’s on the market right now.

When the Kobe 9 was first released, many people thought that it was so high because Kobe Bryant has been rehabbing his Achilles after tearing it last season and, as a result, needed a high-top sneaker. But the truth is that Kobe himself pushed Nike to create a Kobe 9 sneaker that looked like a high-top but performed like a low-top. And he seems to think that they succeeded in doing that, even though the sneaker hasn’t been a hit with all sneakerheads and basketball players thus far.

What do you think about what Nike did here? We’re still trying to soak in the Kobe 9 to try and understand exactly what Nike was going for with this sneaker. But there are a lot of people out there who have already drawn their own conclusions on it. So as we continue to gather our thoughts, we decided to collect tweets from 25 people who reacted to the sneaker almost immediately on Twitter. These tweets should give you a better idea of just how all over the place people are right now when it comes to the Kobe 9…
