Paul Rudd expressed mock outrage at once again being upstaged by a musical guest as he hosted Saturday Night Live for the third time this weekend, with British sensation One Direction. That’s when he brought out the big guns: Will Ferrell, David Koechner, and Steve Carrell, his cast mates from the upcoming Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. Together with the youngsters from the boy band, the nine vocalists sang 70′s pop hit “Afternoon Delight,” recreating a famous scene from the original Anchorman.

Referring to them as his “man band”, Rudd introduced the group that includes two SNL veterans.

Ferrell and Koechner weren’t the only stars to return this week to the show that launched their careers. Kristen Wiig and Fred Armisen both appeared in the cold open, reprising their roles as Dooneese and Lawrence Welk, respectively.

New and old cast mates combined for a new Bill Brasky sketch. Originated with Ferrell, Koechner, and others, the fan favorite series of sketches featured drunken traveling salesmen describing a legendary peer by that name. Joining them this week was Rudd and SNL cast member Taran Killam.

What did you think of SNL this week?
