During the holiday, The Fund for HHC/Guns Down Life Up Project teamed with the Dr. Jays retail chain for an in-store concert series to run from November 2013 throughout 2014, in their New York locations and Newark, NJ. The event was held at Dr. Jays Harlem location, across the street from the world famous Apollo Theatre. A host of high profile artists, community activists, spoken word artists and guests came out to participate and show support. Most of the guests will return to perform in the first show, set to take place in January, at one of the Brooklyn locations.

A portion of the funds raised will go to the Guns Down Life Up/The Fund for HHC Program. Guns Down, Life Up combines violence interruption programs and youth development activities, which offer young people positive activities before they become drawn into a culture of violence. HHC is implementing programs in Harlem and Central Brooklyn, through partnerships among HHC facilities Harlem Hospital Center and Kings County Hospital Center, community-based organizations, civic leaders, and other key stakeholders.
