Analyst: iPhone 5S Now In Stock At All Surveyed Retailers
Good news for holiday shoppers: after initial shortages, the iPhone 5S is now in stock at 100% of retailers, according to an analyst survey.
Financial services group Piper Jaffray found that 60 Apple stores surveyed all currently had the phone. This was the first time all surveyed stores had the phone since the group began checking at the phone’s release in September:
We believe Apple has caught up to demand, which we had expected ahead of the core holiday period. In reflecting on the supply for the 5S product launch overall, we believe that net-net Apple has done a better job in supplying stores with phones proportional to demand.
Similarly, the phones are now generally in stock online.
The iPhone 5S was introduced this fall, for the first time debuting with a second iPhone handset, the 5C. The colorful, cheaper plastic models have sold slower than expected, even forcing Apple to cut manufacturers’ orders. Meanwhile, demand for the 5S required increased orders, with the “champagne” gold colored model becoming something of a consumer sensation.
Apple also announced this week that they had topped 1,000,000 apps in their US App Store, and unveiled their 2013 12 Days of Gifts app. The latter is a traditional holiday offering that gives free content from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6 to those who downloaded it.
The informal signs of success are still meaningful for the powerful company, which has struggled with expectations and stockholders in the last year.
