Cameron Diaz is officially an author. The 41-year-old actress has penned a new book called The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body to encourage young girls to embrace their natural beauty while leading a healthy lifestyle.

“One of my proudest moments,” Diaz wrote on Instagram while posting the fresh-faced image of herself above. “Receiving the first bound copy of The Body Book!! @thebodybook LADIES!! I wrote this book for YOU and YOUR BODY.. And I’m so excited to share it with you!! You can pre-order it now. #loveyouramazingbody.”

As a mainstay in Hollywood for over two decades, Diaz understands the pressure put on women to be thin but stresses in her new book that diet and exercise are more important than what is on the scale. “She wants to stop their fixation on being thin, and for teenage girls to understand that being healthy is more important,” a publishing source told E! News. “She wants to use her celebrity to make a difference. She knows she is a role model to girls and she really wants to use that position to do good.

Diaz admits that she didn’t always lead a healthy lifestyle (“If you are what you eat, I was a bean burrito with extra cheese and extra sauce, no onions,”) but that all changed when her father died. Now more than ever, she wants women to be in control of their minds and bodies. “Cameron is going to be visiting high schools around the country to talk to teenagers about their food choices and what is important to them,” the source told E! News. “She wants them to know that being thin should not be their priority, it’s about getting the right vitamins and knowing what foods will give them energy and keep them strong. She wants to get their feedback, learn about how they decide what to eat now, and teach them to make more informed choices. This book is not about weight, it’s about making the right choices.”

Take a closer at The Body Book below, which is out December 31 and available for preorder via Amazon on hardback for $16.43. Will you move your body to buy this book?
