Were You A Fan Of The adidas “BIG Logo” Sleeved Jerseys That NBA Players Wore Yesterday?

Did you spend at least part of yesterday watching one of the five NBA games that were on TV? Us, too. The NBA on Christmas Day has turned into a little bit of a tradition in recent years. Thanksgiving belongs to the NFL. But on Christmas, the NBA reigns supreme. So we hunkered down in front of the TV on several different occasions yesterday and watched basketball. And we did not like what we saw.

Now, don’t get us wrong. We loved the fact that there were NBA games on TV all day long. We also loved that we got to see guys like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Dwight Howard throughout the day. But what in the world were all of the NBA players wearing yesterday? What were those jerseys all about?!

In case you missed the NBA games, the jerseys looked like this:

And this:

And this:

They were, well…something.

The jerseys that NBA players wore yesterday were the adidas “BIG Logo” sleeved jerseys. They featured short sleeves, large team logos, and names and numbers on the back (numbers were also included on the sleeves). And if adidas has its way, they’re the jerseys that teams are going to be wearing a lot more often in the future.

From a marketing standpoint, the jerseys are pretty genius. Not everyone feels comfortable wearing jerseys if they’re not attending a sporting event. But the sleeved jerseys that adidas has created look almost like shirts. So they will likely sell a lot better than jerseys do now, once fans get used to them. But that seems to be the problem adidas is having right now. The new jerseys are so different from the old ones that many people don’t seem to be taking to them. In fact, lots of people hate them:

We aren’t in love with them, either. Jerseys are a part of the game of basketball, and we don’t like the fact that adidas is trying to take them away from us. Where do you stand on the issue, though? Do you like the short-sleeve look of the new jerseys? Or do you think that adidas needs to go back to the drawing board?
