Reebok Is Starting Off The Year Right By Releasing Shawn Kemp’s Kamikaze I Sneaker
It’s only the second day of 2014—the second day of 2014!—and yet, Reebok is already getting ready to continue doing what they did last year. In 2013, they released a handful of retro sneakers, including the Reebok Question and the Reebok Shaq Attaq, and received a ton of praise for doing it. The ’90s took off in a big way in 2013 and a lot of things from the ’90s became popular again, so people were thrilled to see those signature sneakers get re-released last year. And in 2014, it appears as though Reebok is going to continue re-releasing old retro sneakers and getting plenty of props for doing it.
So which retro sneaker are they going to re-release first? This year, they’re starting things off with the Reebok Kamikaze I sneaker that was originally worn by Shawn Kemp back in 1994 when he was with the Seattle Supersonics. Other Kamikaze sneakers have already been re-released by Reebok in the past, and Reebok has released them in a bunch of new colorways. But the Kamikaze I was not one of those sneakers, which left a lot of Kamikaze I fans disappointed. But now, Reebok will finally get around to re-releasing the Kamikaze I sneaker—and it should sell out quickly due to all of the Kamikaze sneaker fans out there. The Kamikaze I is a classic basketball sneaker that has aged really well.
Will you be picking up this sneaker when it drops? Reebok is planning on releasing it on January 17. It will retail for $115 and will be available through a lot of different Reebok retailers as well as through Reebok.com. Take a look at the sneaker in the photo above and the photo below and let us know what you think about it. Will you be adding the Kamikaze I to your sneaker collection soon?
