Jeremy Scott Debuts First Collection For Moschino Starring Sequins, Logos & Cow Prints
He started from the bottom, now he’s here! Back in October, Jeremy Scott was named as the Creative Director of Moschino marking a full-circle moment in the designer’s life.
“It’s kind of a fairy-tale story,” Scott told Style.com. “I was the [Moschino] intern, and now I’m running the company. It’s hand in glove. When I heard it, it was like, ‘Oh my God, yeah, of course.’ This is so natural for me; I can take this so many different ways.”
And no one seemed more pleased about the collaboration than the house of Moschino itself. “This appointment respects the DNA of the brand as Jeremy Scott represents not only an eclectic and contemporary communicator but most of all a designer capable of re-interpreting the identity and the essence of Moschino,” the company said in an official press statement.
Now, Scott is proving he is the man with the magic touch with the debut of the all/winter 2014-2015 collection for the Italian luxury brand, which features wild and brazen sequins, bold prints (cow, anyone?) and a hilarious t-shirt with the sentence, “I Didn’t Know What To Wear So I Put On This Designer T-Shirt,” which reinforces Scott’s tongue-and-cheek style.
“For me, one of the key elements of Moschino is humor,” Scott explained about the line’s inspiration. “It’s one of the few houses that has humor, and it’s the same thing for me. Another one of the bonding elements is their written messages that express thoughts and twist ideas. We share an obsession with poking fun at fashion. Whimsy, also. I don’t think I could’ve found a more rebellious brand than Moschino if I tried. It’s so irreverent, things Franco did and things the brand’s continued to do in his name. It’s perfect.”
