Tarantino Working On New Western Script

It looks like Quentin Tarantino isn’t done with the Wild West yet. After receiving generally positive reviews for his Civil War-era Southern Western Django Unchained, Tarantino is reportedly working on a new Western script entitled The Hateful Eight.

The name is a play on The Magnificent Seven, a 1960′s western by Jim Sturges, which itself is a remake of the 1954 Akira Kurisowa film Seven Samurai. These two films illustrate any number of influences on Tarantino’s style.

Deadline reports that Tarantino wants actors Christoph Waltz and Bruce Dern for the picture. Waltz has won two Oscars working with Tarantino, in Django and Inglorious Basterds.  Dern also appeared in Django. In just a year since that film’s release, the 77-year-old Hollywood veteran has seen a renaissance in his career. He is a frontrunner for the Oscar for his lead performance in Alexander Payne‘s Nebraska.

The article also claims that Tarantino is currently showing the script around, getting feedback and making revisions.
