Protestor Dumps Manure At French National Assembly
A protestor has dumped huge amounts of horse dung at the steps of the French national legislature. The man’s motives are not known for certain, but the act comes as President Francois Hollande is embroiled in political scandal.
According to photos and local reports from the Agence France-Presse, the man transported the manure in a semi truck emblazoned with the message, “Out with Hollande and the whole political class! Long live the Sixth Republic.” He dumped the manure in front of the Bourbon Palace, which houses the National Assembly, the lower house of the country’s legislature.
Some are reporting that the man’s motives are unknown; but Reuters reports that the protestor is a horse breeder, possibly angry about new taxes on equestrian activities.
Hollande is a deeply unpopular prime minister. He recently passed a 75% income tax on high earners. And this week, rumors surfaced that Hollande is having an affair with, and possibly impregnated, a young actress.
France is currently in its Fifth Republic, founded by Charles de Gaulle in 1958.
With the US Congress’ rock bottom approval ratings, its almost surprising no one has done this yet. What do you think, does Congress deserve a truckload of dung on its doorstep?
