adidas Is Going To Try To Use Lionel Messi To Promote The D Rose 4.5 Sneaker

Later this month, adidas is going to officially unveil their adidas D Rose 4.5 sneaker. They’ve already revealed what it’s going to look like, but they’re going to take things one step further by releasing the D Rose 4.5 in stores and putting it out in a bunch of different colorways. There’s just one problem with that: Derrick Rose—the player who the sneaker was created for—is out for the season with an injury! So he can’t wear the sneaker on the court and help promote it. And because of that, adidas has had to resort to getting really creative in order to promote the sneaker.

So what are they going to do to get the word out about the D Rose 4.5? For starters, they’ve created the D Rose 4.5 “Messi” that you see here. It features a mostly-white upper, black stripes, colorful designs, and a “Messi” patch on the back of the tongue. And as you have probably guessed by now, it was created specifically for soccer star Lionel Messi. It’s a pretty sharp shoe, even though we will admit that there is a lot going on throughout the sneaker.

As of right now, adidas has not revealed whether or not they will release this sneaker to the public. We would guess that they are going to release it at some point, because truthfully, they need to do whatever they can to drum up interest about the D Rose 4.5 sneaker. But they haven’t announced a release date or a price point for it yet, so we will be sure to keep an eye out for that information so that we can provide you with it when it becomes available.

In the meantime, check out some additional images of the D Rose 4.5 “Messi” sneaker below. Do you like what adidas was able to do here? Do you think that adidas should push the D Rose 4.5 hard through adidas athletes other than Rose? And will you pick up a pair of these if they hit stores? Let us know.
