Is This What adidas Has In Store For Us With The D Rose 5?

adidas hasn’t gotten around to releasing the adidas D Rose 4.5 sneaker yet. That sneaker—which was originally designed for Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose but won’t be worn by him because of the knee injury he sustained this season—is set to hit stores on January 30. So adidas recently unveiled a special D Rose 4.5 colorway that they created for Lionel Messi. And all signs point to adidas really doing their best to push the D Rose 4.5 sneaker as hard as they possibly can. But that doesn’t mean that they don’t have one eye on the future, too. After all, Rose is expected to be back on the basketball court sometime this summer. So why not start planning the adidas D Rose 5 now?

It appears as though that’s what adidas is doing at the moment as an image of a sneaker that is believed to be the D Rose 5 just surfaced. adidas obviously hasn’t confirmed whether or not the sneaker is the real deal. But it certainly looks like it could be the D Rose 5. It appears to feature the adidas Boost cushioning system as well as the adidas’ Three Stripes on the tongue of the sneaker and a 3D lace lock that looks just like Rose’s logo. It might just be a sample or it could be an early prototype of what the D Rose 5 is going to look like. But regardless, it’s clear that adidas is focused on the D Rose 5 already.

We’re sure adidas didn’t mean for the image of the D Rose 5 to leak out right now. But judging by the photo that you see here, do you like what adidas is doing with the D Rose 5? It doesn’t look drastically different than the D Rose 4 or the D Rose 4.5 sneaker to us. But we can appreciate the fact that it looks like adidas is fine-tuning the D Rose lineup of sneakers and making some solid improvements to it.

What do you think about the idea of this being the D Rose 5? Are you intrigued? Or are you still so excited about the D Rose 4.5 that you’re not even thinking about the D Rose 5 yet?
