Even though he was one of the best players to ever play in the NBA, Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar doesn’t always get the love and respect that he deserves from NBA fans. He was an excellent college basketball player—he played at UCLA where he compiled an 88-2 record with the Bruins—and went on to become the all-time leading scorer in the NBA. But because he played prior to Michael Jordan‘s reign, he gets forgotten a lot when people discuss the greatest NBA players of all time. It’s a little bit unfortunate actually and we wish that more people would take the time to get to know more about Abdul-Jabbar.

That’s not to say that he doesn’t get any love and respect, though. There are quite a few NBA fans who still recognize him as the greatest player to ever put on an NBA jersey. And it appears as though adidas has not forgotten about Abdul-Jabbar’s greatness, either. Late this week, they showed off their new adidas Crazy 8 “The Blueprint” sneakers and revealed that the sneakers were created specifically for Abdul-Jabbar. The UCLA basketball team wore them against Colorado on Thursday night, and they’re currently for sale for a limited time through adidas.

So what makes the Crazy 8 “Blueprint” sneakers so special? Well, for starters, adidas talked to a bunch of different NBA players like Derrick Rose, John Wall, and Damian Lillard prior to putting the sneakers together and asked them their thoughts on Abdul-Jabbar. Then, adidas took some of the things they said and used their quotes on the sockliner of the Crazy 8 “Blueprint.” They also stitched Abdul-Jabbar’s old jersey number 33 on the heel and toe of the sneaker and included a custom patch that pays homage to Abdul-Jabbar’s iconic sky hook shot on the tongue. And the entire upper of the “Blueprint” is done up in a blue colorway that is designed to represent UCLA. All in all, adidas did a great job with these.

If you’re interested in picking up a pair, you’re going to have to act quickly. These sneakers will be available in limited quantities at the NBA All-Star Game this weekend and through adidas.com. So if you want ‘em, go and get ‘em now. Wearing them will be a great way to show Kareem Abdul-Jabbar the love and respect he deserves.
