This season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been a doozy, and one of the most complicated plot lines involves Kandi Burruss‘ mother’s dislike of her fiancé, Todd Tucker. Mama Joyce‘s contentious relationship with Todd has led to quite a few arguments on the show, and has negatively affected Kandi and Mama Joyce’s relationship. I recently caught up with Mama Joyce for my entertainment news column “The Scoop With The Hip-Hop Socialite” to get the deets on the current state of her relationship with Kandi, and she told me:

“I have totally backed out of the whole situation. If she’s fine with it, I just accept it, and I’ll go along with whatever their decision is. She is the one that has to be up there, I don’t. [Kandi and I] talk, but we don’t talk anything about her business. She just comes by bring Riley, and it’s just more casual conversations, you know. But as far as her business, what she’s doing with Todd, I’m completely out of that. I don’t want anybody to tell me nothing, show me anything, or nothing. I wouldn’t tell her if I saw him with a woman because, like I said, I am completely out of it.”

During our talk, Mama Joyce also described the kind of man she thinks would make a good match for Kandi, saying:

“I have liked some guys that she has dated. Well, somebody that has his own, somebody that’s stable, someone that seem like that they would…since she has Riley, somebody that seem like they would be a good stepfather to Riley. My thing has always been somebody that put my children first, and that’s what I would think would be a number one priority. I just think that would be the type of man I would want for her to have. Someone with a good job – that wouldn’t quit his job just because he got with her because even if it’s someone that don’t has as much as she has, but has good work ethic.”

There aren’t too many episodes left in this season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, so be sure to tune in every Sunday night at 8 pm (EST) on Bravo to see how things between these three unfold. In the meantime, read the rest of my interview with Mama Joyce by checking out the latest edition of my column.
