Taco Bell didn’t need much help publicizing their brand new breakfast offerings this week. Taco Bell was trending on Twitter. Fans couldn’t seem to get enough of the fast food joints offerings, including breakfast burritos, breakfast tacos, the “AM Crunchwrap,” Cinnabon bites, and of course, the Waffle Taco.

But Taco Bell also boosted their visibility with a clever ad campaign tweaking the biggest name in fast food breakfast. The video spot featured 25 men voicing the enthusiastic approval of the new menu offerings- and they’re all named Ronald McDonald.

Not to be out done, McDonald’s surprised industry watchers and consumers on Friday by announcing two full weeks of free coffee at participating locations, an unprecedented offer for the brand.

According to USA Today, fast food breakfast is a $50 billion, and McDonald’s controls 25% of that. Despite growing competition from Starbucks and Taco Bell, the clown won’t give up its dominance that easily.
