A 16-year-old boy has been charged as an adult in the Pennsylvania high school stabbing spree that left 22 people injured, some critically.

The teen reportedly began slashing fellow students at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, outside of Pittsburgh, early in the school day on Wednesday. As the first victims were seen, a student pulled the fire alarm, evacuating the school. Assistant Principal Sam King is being credited with tackling the assailant and subduing him with the help of a police office. The whole episode reportedly lasted about five minutes.

The teen has been charged with “four counts of attempted homicide, 21 counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon on school grounds,” according to CNN.

Classmates are saying the student was quiet and kept to himself.

“The family is so nice. Very, very nice,” said a neighbor of the suspect.
