Syleena Johnson Talks New Season Of R&B Divas: Atlanta And Nicci Gilbert

The third season of R&B Divas: Atlanta premieres tonight!! The last few seasons of the show were full of drama, but during my recent chat with ‘diva’ Syleena Johnson, she told me that things will be a little different this time.

According to Syleena, although there will still be drama, things won’t get as crazy as the last few seasons when she was in constant conflict with her costar Nicci Gilbert, who left the show after last season. She told me:

“Very different from season 1 and season 2. A lot more unity – we get things done. It’s arguing, but it’s not ridiculous. We have our moments, but we resolve things, so you should expect resolution. Let’s put it his way, we don’t have any drama right now. Like, we can call each other today, and we’ll talk to each other. So that’s cool, ’cause we didn’t have that the last season.”

As for whether or not she’s willing to sit down with Nicci to hash out their issues now that the Brownstone singer is no longer a part of the show, Syleena told me:

“No, do you want me to be honest, or you want me to say what’s politically correct? No, she’s done – stick a fork in that one. It’s not because I hate her – I don’t hate her. You have to understand, it’s like this, at 37 years old, I know exactly who I want to affiliate myself with. When you start to get to your 30s, coming into your 40s, you start to really understand who you are, so I don’t need certain people in my life. I just don’t need it. I have friends, I have family, I’m surrounded by people that love me that I’ve known over 15, 20 years, so it doesn’t benefit me either way to rekindle a relationship with a person who has already shown me who they are. When people show you who they are, you have to believe them.”

The ladies of R&B Divas: Atlanta, including the two new divas, 702 singer Kameelah Williams and former Destiny’s Child member LaTavia Roberson, return tonight at 10 pm on TV One.
