Which NBA Team Is In The Most Trouble Right Now In The Playoffs?

For the first time in a long, long, long time, the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics all missed the NBA Playoffs this season. But you know what? It really hasn’t mattered. Because so far, through at least two games in each NBA playoff series, the NBA Playoffs have been phenomenal. And part of that has been because there have already been a ton of upsets. That’s made for exciting basketball—and it has also pushed a few really good teams up against the ropes and put their playoff hopes and dreams in serious doubt.

Which one of those teams is in the most trouble right now, though? With several teams set to tip off their third playoff games of the postseason tonight, we decided to rank the five teams that are in the most trouble at the moment. Keep a close eye on these teams this weekend, as it could be the last weekend of their seasons.

5. San Antonio Spurs

On Wednesday night, the Spurs lost to the Dallas Mavericks by 21 points…at home! Furthermore, they needed a crazy comeback in Game 1 of their series with the Mavs to win that game. They have played solid ball on the road this season, so it’s not exactly time to panic (yet) if you’re a Spurs fans. But the Spurs haven’t looked like the Spurs so far this postseason, and they’re going to have to start limiting their turnovers if they want to knock off Dallas.

4. Chicago Bulls

The Bulls are basically done. They had a chance to win both Game 1 and Game 2 of their series with the Washington Wizards at home but ultimately came up short. They just don’t have enough offense to hang with the Wiz. And the only reason they aren’t ranked higher on this list is that we actually didn’t expect them to win this series when it started. So if they’re able to simply avoid getting swept at this point, it’ll be a win in our book.

3. Oklahoma City Thunder

Are the Thunder going to be able to find an answer for the Memphis Grizzlies‘ bigs? Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph have destroyed OKC in the paint so far during their series. So they need to figure out a way to stop them if they want to come back from a 2-1 series deficit. Game 4 is a must-win game for them. And if they’re not able to win it, they’re in some serious trouble.

2. Houston Rockets

What in the world is going on with the Rockets? They haven’t been able to stop Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge who has scored at will through the first two games of this series. It also hasn’t helped that James Harden has been ice cold from the field. Winning Game 3 and probably Game 4 is going to be the only way that Houston can get back into this series.

1. Indiana Pacers

Is it stupid for us to believe that the Pacers can bounce back and win this series? We keep thinking that, at some point, the Pacers are going to wake up and realize that they’re playing against a team that finished below .500 in the regular season! But they keep sleepwalking through games and losing. We thought they were back in business after blowing out the Hawks in Game 2 of their series. But they lost again last night in Game 3 and, well, this season might not end well for Indiana. If they were to lose this series, they would go down as one of the biggest failures in NBA Playoffs history. You guys better get it together, or else…
