Police in North Carolina are reporting that a women was posting to Facebook just seconds before causing a fatal crash. Courtney Ann Sanford, 32, was killed on Business 85 in High Point after her Toyota Corolla crossed the median and collided with a truck.

“The Happy Song makes me so HAPPY,” Sanford allegedly posted at the same time as the crash. Police say she was also taking selfies as she drove.

“In a matter of seconds, a life was over just so she could notify some friends that she was happy,” said Lt. Chris Weisner of the High Point Police Department. “As sad as it is, it is a grim reminder for everyone… you just have to pay attention while you are in the car.”

The driver of the truck was unharmed.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the DOT, 3,328 Americans were killed in distracted driving accidents in 2012, a slight decrease from the year before. However, the number of injured in these accidents increased over the same time.
