Call Olivia Pope!! Columbus Short Axed From Scandal Because Of Own Scandal
I knew this was coming. Columbus Short, who plays Harrison on the ABC hit show Scandal, will not return for the show’s fourth season. The news of his departure comes on the heels of news of two violent incidents that allegedly involved the actor. Columbus announced the news via a statement from his publicist that reads:
“At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank [creator] Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.”
Over a week ago, Columbus’ wife was granted a restraining order against him because of an incident that took place earlier this month during which he allegedly put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. In March, the 31-year-old actor was also reportedly involved in a bar fight in Los Angeles that left one man unconscious and with a broken nose. Although he won’t face charges over the melee, I’m sure the multiple incidents of bad behavior were too much to handle for network brass at ABC and Shonda Rhimes. Hopefully, now that he has some free time on his hands, Columbus will address his issues, and eventually return to being the talented actor he is.
