Who Will The New Star Wars Actors Play?
This week, the production team behind Star Wars Episode VII announced new additions to the cast. While those names have spread across the internet like wildfire, the question remains: what characters will these new cast members play?
Lucasfilms parent company Disney made the guesswork more difficult by tossing out the Star Wars Expanded Universe (much to the chagrin of fans).
Who knows where the early rumors come from, but they seem to be largely based on appearance. Adam Driver of Girls fame is rumored to be the main villain of the new film, perhaps thanks to his long dark hair and imposing size.
Meanwhile, John Boyega of Attack The Block could be any new Jedi, but some are guessing that he will be the son or grandson of Lando Calrissian, because- well, Lando appeared to be the only black man in the galaxy (in the original trilogy at least).
As the only female in the new group, virtual unknown Daisy Ridley is a shoe-in to be Han Solo and Leia’s daughter.
That leaves Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewlyn Davis), Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter), Andy Serkis (LOTR), and Max von Sydow (lots of stuff). The first two have the doe-eyed, leading man looks of Jedi. Serkis can certainly play a villain, unless he will be working his CGI motion-capture magic again. As for Sydow, he is great as either a hero or villain, but either way, he will be very authoritative and wise.
The newcomers join Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Anthony Daniels (C3PO), and Kenny Baker (R2D2).
What do you think of the latest casting? Who will play what?
