Pharrell Williams Talks Briefly (Very Briefly!) About His New Collection With adidas In An Interview With W

By now, you’ve probably heard that Pharrell is putting in some work with adidas. Earlier this year, he starred in a short commercial that helped adidas announce that he was running with them now. And ever since it was released, there have been a lot of rumors swirling around about the collection that Pharrell is reportedly putting together with adidas. Does it include just sneakers? Just clothing? A mixture of both? Well, during a recent interview with W, Pharrell spoke about his collaboration with the adidas brand. And while he was careful not to reveal too much about it—we still don’t know a whole lot about what he’s created for the company—Pharrell did give us something, which is obviously better than nothing.

“I have a new clothing collaboration with adidas and it’s called adidas = Pharrell Williams,” he told W. “I know I can’t trademark the equal sign, and that’s fine with me because, you know what? It’s just…equal. The ‘Happy’ video is about equality; my music is about equality, and being associated with the idea of equal got me where I am now.”

So what can we take away from those comments? Well, not a whole lot. At most, we now know that Pharrell is going to be making some kind of clothing collection for adidas. And that collection is going to be called adidas = Pharrell Williams. But outside of that, we’re not really sure what else Pharrell is doing with adidas. That’s OK, though. In the coming months, we’re definitely going to learn more about what Pharrell has been working on with adidas. And we’re happy to hear, at the very least, that Pharrell is moving forward with something with the brand. It’ll be interesting to see what he actually creates for them and how he takes the concept of equality and uses it within his collection.

Are you looking forward to seeing what adidas and Pharrell are able to create with their new collection? Let us know in the comments section below.
