NBC’s Community Cancelled

The darkest timeline? After five seasons, NBC’s Community has been canceled.

Twitter isn’t big enough to hold my condolences and more importantly my gratitude to the best fans, cast and crew in TV history. Excelsior,” wrote series creator Dan Harmon after the news broke.

The genre-bending comedy had three critically-acclaimed seasons, but always struggled to find an audience. Harmon was fired before an uneven fourth season, before being brought back for the most recent one.

The show had already lost two originally cast members: Chevy Chase, who had very public clashes with Harmon and the rest of the cast; and Donald Glover, who publicly struggled with the decision to leave to pursue other projects.

But all hope is not lost for fans who want to see the show achieve its often-proclaimed goal of “six seasons and a movie” (a phrase uttered by Abed [Danny Pudi] early in the series). As with shows like Arrested Development or Family Guy, the series may now be shopped around to cable networks or online options.

What do you think, is this really the last of Community? Let us know in the Comments.
