Jay Z, Beyonce And Solange Issue Statement On Elevator Fight

Submitted by on May 16, 2014 – 2:20 pm16 Comments

Several days have passed since the footage of Solange attacking Jay Z in an elevator sent the internet into a frenzy. Nobody knew what happened to make Solange go completely batsh*t on Jay Z or why Beyonce just stood by and watched her sister attempt to kick her husband’s face off. It has been pure speculation with just about every asinine reason under the sun being considered. Everything from Solange hating that Jay Z makes Beyonce do drugs to a perceived secret relationship between Jay Z and Rihanna has all been tossed around the water cooler. But now the Carter-Knowles family have broken their silence and we’re still no better off when it comes to knowing what happened.

“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it,” the statement said. “Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”

Yeah, that doesn’t really give us much to go off of other than them saying “We know that you saw it so we’ll address it.” And that’s pretty much all they did. Oh yeah, and they said Solange was not drunk.

“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false,” the statement continued. “At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

Of course, everyone will still come up with their own reasons, but now that Jay Z, Beyonce and Solange have put it to rest, shouldn’t we? Or nah…
