The adidas Originals Stan Smith sneaker is enjoying a bit of a moment right now. Because Pharrell has been spotted wearing the sneaker on a number of different occasions over the course of the last few months and because the sneaker is such an iconic shoe, it feels like more and more sneakerheads have been flocking towards the sneaker recently. So earlier this week, adidas and Pharrell decided to take full advantage of that by creating a very (very!) small collection of Stan Smith sneakers that were hand-painted by Pharrell himself and selling them in France. And the best part of all? The proceeds from the sale of the sneakers went directly to Pharrell’s From One Hand To Another charity.

As you can see in the photo above, Pharrell really went all out when it came to designing his Stan Smith collection for adidas. There were only 10 total pairs in the collection, so he was able to devote a lot of time and energy towards making each individual pair stand out. He painted the Stan Smiths with all kinds of colors and designs and did his best to make them unique.  And we think that he succeeded. The Stan Smiths in and of themselves are great sneakers. But thanks to Pharrell’s designs, this particular collection came out really well and showed the power of the adidas/Pharrell collaboration.

Unfortunately, because this collection is so exclusive, you’re not going to be able to get your hands on a pair of these Stan Smiths unless you’re willing to fork over a lot of dough. As we mentioned, they were only sold in France yesterday at the Colette store in Paris. And while they went for almost $600 a pop, that’s nothing compared to what they could potentially go for on the secondary market because of the fact that they were created by Pharrell himself. But even still, it’s cool that Pharrell created these sneakers—and even cooler that he created them for a good cause.

What do you think about Pharrell’s designs? Do they make you want to go and get creative with your Stan Smiths?
