Are You Interested In Watching A Movie About NFL Concussions Starring Will Smith?

People love the NFL. Like, literally love it. It’s gotten to the point where just about everything that the NFL touches turns to gold. Except, for whatever reason, movies. Earlier this spring, the league worked in tandem with the producers of the movie Draft Day to release a movie about the Cleveland Browns starring Kevin Costner. And while the movie seemed like it would make tons and tons of money, just like everything else associated with the NFL, it was a dud at the box office and didn’t get great reviews, either. So you would think that movie producers wouldn’t be quick to jump on another NFL-related idea.

However, the rumor is that a production company is currently developing a movie that will be based on a 2009 GQ story called “Game Brain,” which profiled a doctor named Dr. Bennet Omalu who tried to warn the NFL about the impact that concussions were going to have on the league. It’s a movie that likely will not get the blessing of the NFL, due to its subject matter. And it also probably won’t feature any actual NFL teams or players in it. But the one thing that it seems to have going for it at the moment is that Will Smith has reportedly agreed to play the leading role in it. And while Smith isn’t as big a movie star as he was back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, having him in it would elevate the film and make it a must-see movie for a lot of film buffs. But should we get too worked up about the film yet?

Probably not. For starters, there’s no guarantee that Smith will appear in it yet. And if he doesn’t, we’ll automatically be less interested in the final product. Additionally, without the consent of the NFL, we’re guessing that the producers of the movie won’t be able to make the film as lifelike as possible. That will impact the movie and make it less potent, in our opinion. And we don’t know about you, but a film about doctors and concussions sounds about as fun as a tenth grade biology class. It just doesn’t sound like something that will appeal to the average NFL fan.

What do you think about the idea of Will Smith playing the lead in a movie about concussions in the NFL? Is it something you would actually go see, or should Smith save his time and film something else? Let us know below.
