7 Injured In Bourbon Street Shooting
Seven people were injured in a shooting on New Orlean’s Bourbon Street early this morning. The area is a popular hangout for tourists.
The shots rang out around 2:45am on the 700 block of the popular thoroughfare, in the city’s famous French Quarter. All of the victims are being treated in the hospital; six are listed in stable condition, while one is listed as critical.
One eyewitness told local WWLTV that the shooter appeared to shoot one person intentionally, and then started shooting at the crowd indiscriminately:
“Just turned around and he started shooting at the crowd. He seemed pissed off at some dude, pulled the gun out and started shooting at the guy then turned around on the crowd and started shooting at us.”
The New Orleans economy thrives on tourism, but the city also has one of the highest rates of gun violence in the country.
