Dawn of the Planet of the Apes took home the box office crown over the weekend. The Matt Reeves-directed film took in $72.6M for the three-day weekend, including $4.1 million late Thursday night. It took in an additional $31.3M overseas, giving it a worldwide total of over $183 million. According to Deadline.com, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes “had a wonderful Saturday and ended up with an A- CinemaScore so audiences loved it as much as the critics.” The film stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Reportedly, fans of the movie haven’t seen the last of the apes. Earlier this year, 20th Century Fox, the studio behind the movies, announced a third installment with Reeves returning to direct and co-write. That film is set to hit theaters July 29, 2016.
