How Crazy Is It That This Woman Took a Photo With Allen Iverson But Didn’t Have Any Idea Who He Was?

Over the course of his career, Allen Iverson has taken thousands and thousands of photos with his fans. As one of the greatest NBA players of his era, it sort of just comes with the territory. So when we saw that Iverson had snapped a photo with a female fan in a club in Las Vegas over the weekend, we didn’t really think much of it. But then, we saw the caption that was attached to the photo and thought, “What the…?” Because, well, just take a look at the photo below and the caption underneath of it:

“They told me he was famous,” Instagram user @bellamilagroserrano wrote, “but idk who tf he is.”

That’s right, guys. Despite everything that AI did throughout the course of his career—and despite the fact that he has a very distinct look and still dresses almost the same exact way that he did during his career—the girl in the photo above didn’t recognize him. She had apparently been told that he was famous but didn’t know who she was posing with when she asked for a photo.

That tells us two things: One, people are really obsessed with the idea of taking pictures with famous people. This girl didn’t even know who AI was, and yet, she wanted her photo taken with him. And two, we must be getting old! Once upon a time, Allen Iverson—with his tattoos and his braids and his chains and his rap career—was the guy that we loved to watch in the NBA. But it seems as though the younger generation has already forgotten about him. Or even worse, the younger generation—or at least girls like this one—haven’t bothered to learn about AI. It’s pretty crazy when you think about it.

What do you think about this girl taking a photo with AI but not knowing who he was? Let us know in the comments section below.
