An army base is returning to normal this morning after it was briefly locked down due to a reported active shooter situation. Details are sparse out of Fort Lee in Virginia, but no casualties are being reported.

Around 9:30am, Fort Lee’s official accounts on social media reported the base was on lockdown. “Active shooter incident reported at CASCOM HQ, Bldg. 5020. All personnel enact active shooter protocols immediately. Post on lockdown,” they wrote on Twitter.

Twenty minutes later, they reported that the situation was over, and the base had been given the all clear.

This description of the incident came from the base’s official Facebook page:

“Fort Lee first responders responded to a report of a female Soldier with a gun inside the Combined Arms Support Command Headquarters, Bldg. 5020 at approximately 9 a.m. today.

Early reports indicate the Soldier turned the weapon on herself and fired one shot, injuring herself. Her condition is not known at this time.”

Fort Lee is home to the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM), a major provider of training and logistic support for the Army.
